"Child abuse and neglect continue to plague families in our neighborhoods.  We have the choice of helping those victims by continuing to build awareness and support Wright for Kids in its effort to aid children and families in crisis throughout Southwestern Michigan.  All donations during our two-day concert event were matched by Wright for Kids and again matched by the government, as always, 100% of the proceeds went directly to the Community Healing Center.  The $100,000 raised will help provide forensic interviews, individual and family counseling, case management, as well as home visits to support family members to heal and break the chains of abuse." - Ann Wright

Make sure to like us on Facebook where you will get the update information and the scoop on the bands as we sign the contracts.

Purpose:

Rock for Kids is a two day rock concert featuring national tribute bands, Aeromyth, Rolling the Stones, Back in Black & Hotel California.  Hosted and produced by Wright for Kids, the event will raise money to support programs at The Community Healing Center that support children who have been abused and neglected and other programs for children. This event will feature food vendors, beverages, and music.

Amount donated in 2011:  Wright for Kids donated $51,000 to The Community Healing Centers as a result of the money raised at Rock for Kids.  This money is matched by a federal grant program that provides the ability to insure that the funds are made available to children who have been abused and neglected right here in  Southwest Michigan (doubling the amount raised). The total amount donated to The Community Healing Centers was $102,000.

The Community Healing Center
Supports children who have been abused and neglected

The Children's Advocacy Center is a caring, child-friendly, safe place for children who have been sexually abused to go for help. If a child has been sexually abused, or an adult suspects that a child has been sexually abused, he or she is referred to the Children's Advocacy Center at the Community Healing Centers by Protective Services workers, the police, or concerned adults in the child's life.

The Children's Advocacy Center is a community-based program that offers a continuum of care from the child's initial disclosure of sexual abuse through the community investigation and prosecution, to the child's eventual recovery. The goals of the Children's Advocacy Center are to protect children who have been sexually abused and prevent further abuse; to preserve and improve the child victim's mental health through supportive and responsive services during the time of disclosure and thereafter; to maintain and reconstitute a healthy family by healing the scars of sexual abuse and helping the child and family redirect their efforts toward positive growth and development; to enhance community safety by preventing the perpetration of sexual abuse; and to provide a continuum of care and service to sexually abused children and their non-offending family members.
